Erase the words you wrote They'll erase the tongue you spoke If it's a sound loud enough to hear through centuries of fear Whose voice is rising? The culture has its king Oh it's been boiling just beneith He sang to the pain it's bring those good days back again Call it tax not tithing But it is all of us who will sit on the back of the bus We're all on here for the ride it's everybody pick a side distract us from who's driving With all the facts and proof let's head up to the roof wondering if they don't believe or they have just that much greed The water's rising They're going to play those cards again You were born into your sin While money rules the war machine send the soldiers back again to keep this country thriving But we can not fall into despair watching moths to the flame of all they burn We will not abandon truth and love We will call their names while we still have the words It feels too big to overcome when you're standing there as one What is the freedom song they told us we had so wrong to stop our organizing So they can't erase the words we wrote can't erase the tongue we spoke Make a sound loud enough to hear through centuries of fear It's our voices rising!

Here each day he sat growing old and cold with his cats looking out at a country spiraling to hell from his porch on the hour with his cigarette He thinks of his first wife tells himself he does not miss that life To go back to those hallways back to those hills rolling out from the highways rumbling waves of goodbyes Cause when you come from a place from the first day You can never outrun, can not erase You will always pretend that you choose the end while you search for the heart to transcend In the summer heat playing war with the kids on the street Lucianno broke his arm and stopped the game so they all made a brace with the surrender sheet They had both made it home so he took the news like a stone packed up his car took a pill for the pain drove away from the faces and closets of bones Cause when you come from a place from the first day You can never outrun, can not erase You will always pretend that you choose the end while you search for the heart to transcend He went in his sleep heart gave out to the long slow beep Then all of the pain fell from his face as he dreamt he dove into the deep They all filed by shook their heads and they closed their eyes Purple heart pinned as his final grace It's been holding all of the lost goodbyes And laid to rest down by his feet the broken cats no one could keep

Battle Songs 04:07
Autumn twilight chilled through standing your guard till the moon in the sky takes the tears from your eyes and turns them to oceans of stars Little captive safe in grass by the stream In the warmth of the day you can wish it away in the arms of an angel that sings I'll stay with you through the night I will be here through the winter Never give up the fight I'm with you always Scarlet letter study the word for your soul But the school yard jeers are all you can hear and the whispers are all you can hold Like wind running if for a moment you flew you'd just crash to the ground how they all take you down lose the angel's been singing to you I'll stay with you through the night I will be here through the winter We must never give up the fight I'm with you always It's your sad heart's been singing while you've been walking it off for years Angel keep on bringing all of the words that you need to hear battle songs to calm the fear Wounded soldier always the next drop to numb from the burning remains it was never explained why you never thought to run It's every day now tales worn like a record through There's no city named peace no day of release just the songs that you sing to yourself in a room But we sad hearts need your singing cause we've been walking it off for years Angel keep on bringing all of the words that we need to hear Battle songs to calm the fear Battle songs to conquer fear

Destroyer 03:01
Have you heard of the destroyer Instinct for survival knows that they are all coming to get you God is watching every move Soldiers know of the destroyer Echo in the sounds, that pack of hounds stalking the days and nights of those strong and brave and true How you witness the destroyer venom in the bloodstream. it’s a memory that has latched on and then the poison flows and flows Rid me of the destroyer Deafening cacophony Oh peace be with me now please show me how to make the demons go You must shake its hand shake its hand shake its hand When you first walk in on the destroyer How the stench will burn your nose, in your morning honeysuckle how I smell death in your blooming rose. Acknowledge the destroyer These ghosts will take your site and leave you blindly walking out there through the minefield of your life You must shake its hand shake its hand shake its hand Take on what you can and then one day go shake it’s hand See the vast destruction out there on the city corners See the pain passed down you thought you saw it No ones ever going to call it All on you you’re the destroyer All the ways you choose to kill the memories that have latched on and then the poison flows and flows and flows. The destroyer. The destroyer

I must not know what love is still I can't get over it I've only got myself to blame I held my tongue and built my cage saw it as he walked away I sold myself too cheap again If I wrote down everything that I hear If I've always held the reasons why I could bring the meaning to the lost years If I am the wrong there is a right When every word still bleed with loss could I cut the roots and walk on strangers playing at family I learned I was a thing to take I learned my ways to escape I learned what I needed to be If I wrote down everything that I hear If I've always held the reasons why I could bring the meaning to the lost years If I am the wrong there is a right With all the fables painted black and white If I learn to sing my pain take the fear I'll fall again and wear it like a medal on my chest I can walk the edge of all I know hold the darkness and the glow and carry on the truth for all the rest If I wrote down everything that I hear If I've always held the reasons why I could bring the meaning to the lost years If I am the wrong there is a right

Finally Free 04:20
You were saved again when he walked in like it was a sign you fell together like a rhyme and you could sing the harmony Carried it down from the moment you began to bend always thought that you had to pretend he was singing in key When he called you out you were always one to go along Played it safer as the one who's wrong on his side of the line in the sand Cause every wrong turn made it was you who walked into the trap and now you can never take it back or keep it from happening again You've been standing just in the doorway It's always been open but you could not see you're going to learn of all the beauty you've been holding cracked open and shining you are finally free Well you climbed so high and you can see the valley floor but you can't live there anymore no more lonesome in the pine But every night you dream of when you washed up from the war Take another of the pain you poor if we'll never leave it behind You've been standing just in the doorway It's always been open but you could not see you're going to learn of all the strength you have been holding cracked open and shining you are finally free You have been a stranger all of your life carrying the pieces toward the promise you'd arrive lay down the heavy sorrow of the past You are free at last! Close your eyes and lift your face up to the sun Forgive all of the things you've done to survive this road Do you recognize the soul you thought you lost at sea now polished by the storm debris It is a seed of hope You've been standing just in the doorway It's always been open but you could not see you're going to learn of all the joy you have been holding cracked open and shining you are finally free
